Frozen Synapse 2 is a turn-based tactical squad command game in which you control a team of soldiers in a cyberpunk dystopian future. The game includes a long single-player campaign as well as single-player and multiplayer skirmish combat modes. The heart of Frozen Synapse 2 is the turn-based combat system. In the single-player campaign, your squad carries out missions in a procedurally-generated city teeming with NPC factions. You decide what the squad's missions are, from robbing banks to rebelling against the government to working together with any of the NPC groups. In multiplayer -- which was the main feature of the previous game in the series -- each player assigns orders to the members of their squad. Once both players are done, the orders are processed and the turns are executed simultaneously. This system means that the heart of gameplay is the mind game: victory comes from anticipating what your opponent is about to do. Visually, the game is stark and spare, but its visual scheme of bright wires on a dark background evokes an appropriate cyberpunk atmosphere.
